open heart surgery? Hi, My husband found out this morning that his mom will be undergoing open heart surgery on Friday. We are really worried. I will be going with my husband to the hospital to be supportive. The doctor said something about 4 bypasses. What does mean? Also, can we have some extra prayers for her. Thanks so much. Doc said i'm slightly anemic? Should I pay out of pocket for iron supplement or not buy it at all? Medicaid doesn't cover iron supplement. I was prescribed by my doctor who did a blood test on me. she found everything normal but said that my blood count is low (hemoglobin, red blood cells). so she prescribed liquid syrup iron supplement bcz I hate pills. CVS called me to tell me Medicaid won't cover it and it's just under $ 30. I told them I can't afford that now. Honestly, I can't. about a month ago, while in church, I felt a warm sensation running through my body - like I would pass out.? I sat down and it went away. Attributed it to not eating breakfast yet. Was fine the rest of day. So a week and a half later, I'm driving my friend and we're singing along with the music and this starts happening again. Does prayer work? In the largest study of its kind, researchers found that having people pray for heart bypass surgery patients had NO effect on their recovery. In fact, patients who knew they were being prayed for had a slightly higher rate of complications. Do you agree or disagree and why. It all depends on the health and age of the person having the surgery. My mother recently had 2 heart valves replaced she was in ICU for 2 days. Transfered to private room for three days and then went home. She is 70 years old. help please!!? anyone got any idea how i preform i tripple heart by pass at home, my dads wants the surgery but we cant afford it so thought i'd give it a try myself, cant be to hard. i got a few straws for the bypass and been watchin ER all week, just need a bit of help on how to get started, should be alright from there in. Is my 82yr old fathers abdominal aneurysm about to rupture? So my dads foot and leg starting changing color and going numb on Aug.31. Took an ambulance to the hospital where they did a CT scan and discovered he has 2 aneurysms 1 smaller one in his stomach and a larger one in the abdomen. He was told to the larger one has to be completely removed and to go for surgery the next day but my father refused, he was told he could die and may have to wait a cpl months before another chance at surgery but still opted to go home. Can my aunts and uncles do this? This is a really long story, so I'll try to be brief. Basically, 7 years ago my father and I finally left my abusive mother. We had no money and nowhere to go, so thankfully my paternal grandmother let us live with her. My fathers siblings, 2 of 3 lived really close to my grandma, were not happy with this. How risky is this operation? My mother who lives near me is 85 years old. overweight, and a diabetic with high blood pressure. She is on alot of medication. I had to check her into the hospital last week for shortness of breath and malaise. She has very bad edema. I found out today she has congestive heart failure, needs a double bypass and a valve replacement, and probably will have this surgery ASAP. Why is he pushing me away? Yesterday I got a phone call at work from my Fiance. He said that his Grandfather had a heart attack and is in the hospital. It immediately brought me into a flash back of my dad. Right after Father's day this year my dad had a heart attack and 3 weeks ago had 5 bypasses.
